When I think back to where my love of crafting began, I can credit my Girl Scout troop, visits with my Grandmother, the summer camp Craft Shop (which I later worked at), and my mom who signed me up for a variety of artistic classes at the local Rec Department. This is where I learned to sew. I was the kid who was using Legos to build houses for my Playmobil, and one of my fondest holiday gifts was a stocking full of Scotch tape. When I travel, I bring a mini crafting kit, always with a skien of yarn and a crochet hook, and supplies for embroidery. It’s how I relax, and it’s small enough to easily fit in my backpack. 

As my skills and interests have evolved, so have the tools and materials I work with. One of the things that ultimately inspired me to pursue Graphic Design was learning to use a Cricut, a small craft CNC machine, for a number of types of projects. These skills have come in handy for Graphic Design, and I have fallen in love with creating my own photo props. The way I look at it, dimensional design is really just an elaborate craft with very specific requirements, which is probably why I enjoy it so much.
